MDP State Convention - Candidates for Chair

The 2013 Michigan Democratic Party State Convention will be held on Saturday, February 23rd at Cobo Center in Detroit. At this convention, we will be electing a Chair and two Vice-Chairs, as well as electing leadership for all 14 congressional district Democratic Parties. In order to vote at this convention, your membership must be current as of January 25, 2013.

This year, there will be two candidates running for the position of chair. You can view more information about each of these candidates and their campaigns below.
Mark Brewer

In February 1995, Brewer was elected Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party. He was reelected in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, and 2011.

Lon Johnson

In 2012, Johnson ran for the Michigan State House of Representatives in the 103rd District, and received more than 47% of the vote in a Republican district.
